What Clients Feel
How It Works
Fine, sterile needles are placed at specific points along the body to ease tension, calm the nervous system, and support the body’s own healing response. Sessions are precise, low-impact, and tailored to what you’re feeling that day.
Why We Added It
Massage and acupuncture solve overlapping problems from different angles. Pairing the two gives clients a fuller path to relief — deeper tissue work alongside targeted point therapy — without needing to see two separate providers.
Conditions We Commonly Treat
Can acupuncture help with chronic pain and tension?
Yes. Acupuncture is one of the most well-studied uses of the treatment, helping relieve chronic pain and muscle tension by improving blood flow and calming the nervous system’s pain response.
Is acupuncture effective for headaches and migraines?
Many clients turn to acupuncture for recurring headaches and migraines. By targeting tension points and improving circulation, it can help reduce both the frequency and intensity of episodes.
Can acupuncture speed up joint and muscle recovery?
Acupuncture supports the body’s natural healing process, making it a helpful addition to recovery plans for joint stiffness, muscle strain, and overall mobility.
Does acupuncture help with stress and anxiety?
Acupuncture activates the body’s relaxation response, which can lower stress hormones and support a greater sense of calm and emotional balance.
Is acupuncture good for sports injury recovery?
Athletes often use acupuncture to recover faster from injury, reduce inflammation, and get back to training with less downtime.

Shayla Thompson, MAOM, Dip OM, L.A.C
I specialize in Dynamic Acupuncture, a trauma-informed style I developed that emphasizes personalization, education, and listening to the body’s unique feedback. Each session includes a thorough discussion of your concerns and health history, along with individualized treatment designed to support pain relief, nervous system regulation, and long-term wellness. My goal is to help clients sleep better, experience less pain, and feel more confident caring for their health between visits. Outside of work, I enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, reading, writing, traveling, live music, dancing, and finding creativity in everyday life.
What your first visit looks like
- Intake, 10 to 15 minutes. Your history, current medications, what you’ve already tried, what makes it better and worse. Bring imaging or notes from other providers if you have them.
- The plan, out loud. Our licensed acupuncturist explains which points they’ll be using and why before using them.
- Needles in, about 20 to 30 minutes. You rest. Lights low. Most people describe it as a heavy, spacey calm.
- What to expect after. Most people feel loosened up and a little sleepy for a few hours. A few feel unusually alert. Drink water and skip the day’s hardest workout.
- A realistic timeline. The acupuncturist will tell you roughly how many sessions it should take before you notice a change. If nothing has shifted by then, you will work together to adjust the plan.
